Beautiful sturdy jute shopping bag turned into piece of art in hands of Native American artist Bill Helin, a member of the Tsimshian First Nation of northwestern British Columbia. This pattern is one of the most treasured symbols - Raven. The artist receives part of the proceeds from each sale.

Our focus with this series of products is on representing and supporting Indigenous people from the nearby area. Each item is created by an artist with First Nation roots or membership of the Salish Sea.

The artists are preserving their heritage through each piece that reflects their tribe's unique heritage and values. Created from materials such as wool, leather, and cotton these items are gentle on the earth as well. The artists are commission paid to ensure fair pay for their work.

About the Artist: 

Karen Francis was born to Gitxsan mother and Tlingit father and was raised by non-native parents. Having practiced art on and off throughout her life she obtained a Fine Arts Degree in 1996 with Emily Carr University of Art and Design, majoring in oil painting. She is a community and self-taught Northwest Coast Artist with the goal of using contemporary native art to help bridge cultural understanding and acceptance.

    Fabric care: Machine wash warm. Tumble dry low or line dry. Fabric may shrink a little (5%-7%) during the first three washings. To avoid this, wash at lower temperatures or minimize dryer time.

    All items (except underwear and socks) are returnable within 30 days, as long as they are unused and unwashed, no perfume or smoke (keep this in mind when trying on your clothes), with tags remaining. Only the cost of merchandise, not the shipping fees are refunded.
