 SILK CARE

Garments worn next to the skin should be washed or otherwise cleaned after each wearing to protect from perspiration staining. Never use bleach, laundry pods, or stain-fighting detergents.
Only use delicate detergent and hand wash in lukewarm water. You can aslo dry clean, or machine wash in lukewarm water (30°C) on the most delicate cycle (turn garment inside out) and minimize spin time.

Drying - Silk is strong when dry, but weak while wet. Best - air dry or tumble dry low (inside out). Never wring it!  Hang dry if possible, avoid direct sunlight.

SILK TEXTILE - THE ULTIMATE LUXURY
Silk is one of the most amazingly smooth fibers, revered through history, and valued throughout the world. Silk is incredibly soft with a flattering sheen, giving it a high-end and luxurious appeal. Even though it has a delicate appearance it has good strength with excellent drape. It resists soil and odors well.

Silk is the most hypoallergenic of all fabrics, excellent for people with allergies or sensitivities. It is cool for summer with excellent ventilation and warm in winter. BTW, the protein sericin  (silk gum) is said to promote skin regeneration and used in cutting edge cosmetic industry.

    SILK HISTORY

The history of silk goes back to ancient China as far ago as to 4000 BC. It was used for thousands of years not just for clothing but for art, paper, and even as a monetary standard. It has been and still is a synonym of luxury and beauty, found in tombs of ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome.

Note that many fabrics called satin are synthetic fabrics made from petroleum-based polyesters and feel like plastic. These are not like silk at all.

    QUALITY and LABOR

Momme weight determines the quality of silk, referring to the weight per 100 yards. The higher the momme, the better quality. This garment is grade 6A silk, the "Queen of Fibers".

It is certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 using non-toxic, safe dyes. The workers have fair wages and benefits and reasonable working hours. LilySilk, the manufacturer donates to children in China's rural areas through the program ”Free Lunch for Children“ and “China Song Ching Ling Foundation- 'Loving Dictionary' donation project.”
